Elective Class & Masterclasses

Elective Classes

Interactive and engaging, our elective classes are open to students of all instruments and experience levels, offering creative ways to explore music through listening, discussion, collaboration, and movement.

Please choose one of the following topics. Each class will meet four times during the session. If a class does not meet the minimum enrollment, C’est Bon faculty will reassign students to another class based on the best fit.

1. Meet the Minds Who Made the Music
Take a journey through the great musical eras and discover how history shaped the sounds you play. Students will explore the defining styles of different periods and learn how composers fit into their time, gaining historical insight that brings greater depth, understanding, and style to their own performances.

2. DRUM CIRCLE – Get Your Groove On!
Join an inclusive, facilitated rhythm circle where everyone is welcome, regardless of skill level. No experience is necessary—just bring your energy. Connect through shared rhythms in a supportive space while building ensemble communication, creativity, trust, teamwork, and active listening.

3. Music in Animation – Seeing the Music Come to Life!
Explore how music comes to life through animation and film. Students will watch and discuss scenes connected to classical music, discovering how story, movement, and visual imagery can help us see what we usually only hear.

4. You Be the Judge – Step into the Jury Box!
Become a music competition judge for the day. Students will listen to and compare performances, discuss different interpretations, and work together to rank them in a fun mock competition while sharpening critical listening and musical awareness.

Masterclass Performance Opportunity

Selected students will have the opportunity to perform a solo work in front of an audience and receive feedback from a masterclass teacher. Students may sign up using either their primary or secondary instrument.

A collaborative pianist is not required for participation. However, if you wish to perform with one, a list of available pianists will be provided to selected students. Students are responsible for arranging a rehearsal prior to camp and covering the pianist’s fee.

Please choose your selection of class before advancing to the next page. If you plan to enroll in the masterclass, please ensure your video link is prepared. The video recording should feature the piece you wish to perform in the masterclass, with or without a pianist.
